God moved a number of souls in Chisiri yesterday, so please browse the photos, see the captions and get the story behind those who asked to be baptized!
But all of this is simply the beginning for these brothers and this sister. Some prayers see early results, and I believe that these baptisms show some early results of your prayers for us. On the other hand, it takes time to see the blessings from others…and retention is one of those things that it will take time to see.
Elijah prayed that it would rain after God withheld rain in Israel for just over three and a half years. But they didn’t see rain right away:
41 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of the rushing of rain.” 42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel. And he bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees. 43 And he said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” And he went up and looked and said, “There is nothing.” And he said, “Go again,” seven times. 44 And at the seventh time he said, “Behold, a little cloud like a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” And he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.’” 45 And in a little while the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went to Jezreel. 1 Kings 18:41-45 (ESV)
God uses the number seven in scripture…often. In addition to its literal uses, I’ve heard that it symbolizes completeness.
So in asking for your prayers today, we’re asking for you to diligently pray for retention, but even more…that these souls and those who follow will endure and in Christ be made: complete!
Seeking these prayers not only on behalf of this mission, but on behalf of His work everywhere. Thanks as always!
